Cropmarks of a group of enclosures, possibly an Iron Age to Roman farmstead, are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). These cropmarks are centred on TG 4021 0483 and were previously recorded as part of NHER 21818. A roughly trapezoidal enclosure is present in the north-west corner of this group. It measures approximately 88m by 74m and has an internal sub-division separating of its southern part. The ditch forming the western side of this enclosure continues to the south to form a rectilinear enclosure attached to its southern and eastern sides. This enclosure measures up to 165m long by 120m wide externally. The southern and eastern parts of this larger enclosure have a double-ditched boundary, possibly due to the incorporation of a pre-existing rectilinear enclosure. These enclosures represent a discrete group and may relate to a farmstead or small settlement of Iron Age to Roman date. Located in the eastern part of the larger enclosure is a ring ditch cropmark (NHER 49380). Although it is likely that it relates to a Bronze Age round barrow, it is possible that it could belong to a roundhouse associated with these enclosure cropmarks. These enclosures are overlain by cropmarks of a road and part of a planned field system probably relating to a later phase of Iron Age to Roman activity (NHER 49381) and also by undated and medieval to post medieval boundary ditch cropmarks (NHER 21818).
