Map

May 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The site of possible medieval to post medieval peat extraction may be visible on aerial photographs to the north of Upton Broad (S1). The site is centred on TG 3931 1396. The site consists of a series of amorphous darker, wetter and slightly sunken areas within the fen vegetation. Comparison with similar sites in the wider Broads area would suggest that these surface characteristics are associated with the site of former peat extraction sites of medieval to post medieval date. No definite extraction areas have been mapped at this site as the edges of the features are not easily definable from the aerial photographs.
S. Massey (NMP), 30 May 2007.
