Map

July 2007. Norfolk NMP.
A rather disparate group of ditches is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S4), centred at TM 3985 9938. The archaeological significance of many of the features is uncertain. While some may represent field boundaries or similar features of various different periods, others may merely be the product of modern agricultural activity. Those corresponding with field boundaries depicted on Heckingham Enclosure Map (S5) have not been mapped by the NMP. The relationship between the features described here and other cropmark sites in the area, e.g. NHER 49650 immediately to the northeast, is not clear.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 31 July 2007.

November 2013. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed extension to Norton Subcourse Quarry.
The southernmost cropmark in this group fell within the area examined during this work. The single trench placed on the line of this cropmark failed to identify any corresponding sub-surface feature.
See report (S6) and NHER 61880 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 25 October 2016.
