Summary

A possible World War Two military structure may be visible on aerial photographs to the northwest of Breck Barn Cottage, Weston Longville. This site is located on the periphery of Attlebridge Airfield (NHER 3063) and may have been associated with an outlier defence system or communications structure. The site is also located to the north of a World War One to Two military training area located on the former heath, now BlackBreck Plantation (NHER 50618) and may have been associated with this activity. However the military origin of this structure is not certain and it is possible that it is agricultural in origin.

Map

September 2007. Norfolk NMP.
A possible World War Two military structure may be visible on aerial photographs to the northwest of Breck Barn Cottage, Weston Longville (S1-S4). The site is centred on TG 1211 1444. This site is located on the periphery of the Attlebridge Airfield (NHER 3063) and may have been associated with an outlier defence system or a communications structure. The site is also located to the north of a World War One to Two military training area located on the former heath, now BlackBreck Plantation (NHER 50618) and may have been associated with this activity.

This possible World War Two site is suggested by a low polygonal or semi-circular structure, measuring 6.5m by 3.5m, visible in March 1945 (S1). This was not present in 1942 (S2) and has been removed by summer 1946 (S3). The military origin of this structure is not certain and it is possible that it is agricultural in origin.
