Summary

The cropmarks of a possible undated settlement site were noted on aerial photographs taken in 1990. The settlement certainly pre-dates the early 19th century park layout.

NLA were informed, through a third party, that archaeological trenching has been undertaken. No further information yet available, although there was, apparently, Saxon pottery discovered.
