Map

October 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a possible ring ditch and oval enclosure, both of which may potentially represent the remains of former Bronze Age barrows, are visible on aerial photographs to the northeast of Scotchwood Hills, Morton on the Hill (S1). The site is centred on TG 1262 1696.

The clearest component of the site is an incomplete ring ditch, 20m in diameter (S1). To the immediate south of this is a possible curvilinear ditch that may form part of an incomplete oval ring or enclosure, potentially measuring 22m by 17m. The eastern part of both features is masked due to the fact that the eastern edge of the site corresponds with a deposit of either alluvial or colluvial origin that is roughly follows the line of the 10m contour. The site is located at the base of slope on the western side of the Wensum valley. A similarly positioned group of barrows are located approximately 625m to the northwest (NHER 45361).
S. Massey (NMP), 22 October 2007.
