Map

November 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of fragmentary linear ditches of unknown and multi-period date, probably represent the remains of former field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs to the northwest of Attlebridge Hall, Attlebridge (S1-S3). Roman date finds have been found within 1km of this site and it is possible that some of the fragmentary ditches mapped date to this period. The site is centred on TG 1374 1590.

A number of geological cropmarks are visible within this area, only those cropmarks that were of convincing archaeological origin, such as those with linear and rectilinear elements, were mapped. A number of linear cropmarks located within the southern part of the site (that nearest to the valley floor) were dismissed as being probable drainage features.

Some of the cropmarks, in particular those mapped to the north of the Fakenham Road, were mapped from a single Meridian 1976 aerial photograph (S1-S2), where no stereo pair was available. Consequently these cropmarks are of a less certain origin as those that have been viewed in stereo.
S. Massey (NMP), 09 November 2007.
