Map

November 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a small group of undated fragmentary ditches, possibly representing the remains of former field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Rabbit Lane, Great Witchingham (S1). The site is centred on TG 1018 1904. These ditches clearly underlie the post medieval and modern field layout that survives and this would suggest that the features are pre-post medieval. A post medieval hall is known to have existed to the immediate south of this location, Witchingham Old Hall (NHER 15276), although the cropmarks would appear to pre-date this phase, although it is possible that significant landscaping and reorganisation of the field layout has occurred after the demolition of the hall.
S. Massey (NMP), 09 November 2007.
