Map

December 2004. Norfolk Rapid Coastal Zone Archaeological Survey.
Land-based survey; Area A24:
This area was split into two sections. The northern part was approximately 70m wide and was covered in thick grass (visibility was low). The southern part contained a winter crop with east-to-west tramlines (visibility was good). A transect was walked through either section.
Eighteen worked flints, two burnt flints, one piece of post-medieval pottery and a clay tobacco pipe stem were collected. One flint artefact was found in the west of the field and was probably an outlier from the concentration in NHER 51037. Sixteen worked flints and one burnt flint were found in the south-east, between TG 11970 43423 and TG 12167 43410. These suggest the presence of a specific focus of prehistoric activity.
See assessment report (S1) for further details.
The associated archive has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2017.421).
