Map

December 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a series of fragmentary ditches, probably the remains of field boundaries, and extraction pits are visible on aerial photographs to the southwest of Sparhamhole Plantation (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 0518 1874. These fragmentary ditches are located in close proximity to a group of ring ditches, probably represent the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow cemetery (NHER 3053). It seems likely that all the ditches postdate the barrow group. The date of the ditches is uncertain and it is likely that they represent fragments of several phases of ditches ranging in date from the late prehistoric onwards. The pits are likely to present piecemeal gravel extraction pits, although this is not certain. The largest of the pits is roughly oblong and measures 30m by 12m.
