Full Description
December 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The earthworks of a small circular feature are visible on aerial photographs within a former quarry and this is likely to represent the remains of a post medieval kiln or similar industrial structure (S1). The remains of a post medieval brick kiln have been recovered approx 300m to the southwest (NHER 12943). The structure is 7m in diameter and is centred on TG 0623 1716. The quarry is not marked on the Ordnance Survey first edition map (1879-1886) (S2), suggesting that the quarry and the structure post-date the surveying of this edition of the map. The structure has gone by 1988 (S3).
S. Massey (NMP), 19 December 2007.
