Summary

A group of ditches of unknown date, some of which probably represent post medieval field boundaries, is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. The postulated post medieval field boundaries are relatively well defined, and broadly conform to the modern field pattern, which is little different from that depicted on 19th and 20th century maps.

Map

January 2008. Norfolk NMP.
A group of ditches of unknown date is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 2507 1776. Some of the cropmarks are relatively well defined, and conform to the same broad pattern of enclosure as the modern fields (and those depicted on 19th and 20th century maps). These probably represent post medieval field boundaries. The remainder of the cropmarks are undated; some could represent a western continuation of the medieval and undated ditches identified a short distance to their east (NHER 39859).
S. Tremlett (NMP), 14 January 2008.
