Map

December 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of fragmentary ditches, probably the remains of field boundaries of Roman date, are visible on aerial photographs to the southeast of High House Farm, Billingford (S1). The site is centred on TG 0055 2075. A Roman date for these cropmarks has been suggested due to the site’s proximity to the Roman town of Billingford (NHER 7206) and the shared alignment of these features with the boundaries and enclosures forming the northern part of the settlement. Although a watching brief (ENF103981) located in-between the northern part of the Roman town and these cropmarks suggested the site did not extend any further north (see NHER 42662). Although it is possible that this evaluation was located within an area devoid of features, perhaps within an agricultural field located on the edge of the settlement.
S. Massey (NMP), 19 December 2007.
