Map

December 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of fragmentary ditches, probably the remains of field boundaries of Roman date, are visible on aerial photographs to the north of High House Farm, Billingford (S1). The site is centred on TG 0052 2125. These fragmentary ditches are located to the north of a large circular enclosure, possibly representing the remains of a hengiform monument or elaborate barrow (NHER 36394). A Roman date for these cropmarks has been suggested due to the site’s proximity to the Roman town of Billingford (NHER 7206) and the shared alignment of these features and other boundaries thought to be of possible Roman date in the area (NHER 50866, 50868), although they could feasibly date to any period.
S. Massey (NMP), 19 December 2007.

March 2008. Norfolk NMP.
Consultation of additional photography (S2) suggests that this site is more extensive and may cover much of the field.
Although only a relatively small amount of the possible ditches visible on (S2) have been mapped, as some are hard to confidently distinguish from the geological cropmarks also showing on the aerial photographs.
S. Massey (NMP), 04 March 2008.
