Full Description
February 2008. Norfolk NMP.
The soilmarks of a trackway of probable medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs leading from Mill Road towards Beck Hall (NHER 7215) and the Billingford Road (S1). The site is centred on TG 0290 2108. The linear is visible as a bank or compacted surface, 9-20m across, although it is likely that some of the material has been spread by the plough given the feature a larger appearance than was originally present. The trackway would appear to be marked on map of 1700-25 (S2) and it runs from the village of Foxley towards the common and joins with a track leading towards Beck Farm. Given this relationship with the moated site at Beck Farm, formerly the site of a medieval hospital and chapel (NHER 51208), it is likely that route dates back to the medieval period.
