Map

The earthworks of probable ridge and furrow and other agricultural earthworks, boundaries and drains are visible on aerial photographs to the east of the Lynn Road near Oak Wood (S1-S2). This site is centred on TF 3981 1255 and is located to the immediate south of a finds scatter interpreted as indicating medieval settlement (NHER 23064) and a larger area of settlement and agricultural earthworks (NHER 19180). On the western edge of the earthworks is the site of a former brick kiln (NHER 36520) recorded from Bryant’s map of 1826 (S3), although no definite evidence for this structure could be identified on the aerial photographs.

Aerial photographs taken in 1988 (S2) indicate that the site survives as rough grassland. would suggest that the southern area of ridge and furrow is still survives as low earthwork. It is hard to discern the earthwork of the northern area, although this is likely to be due to the rough vegetation. The more minor linear boundaries and drains are all still visible as earthworks.
