Map

March 2008. Norfolk NMP.
The earthworks of a possible trackway and a series of small enclosures are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Watlington Park (S1-S2). These features are likely to relate to medieval settlement and stock management at Watlington.

The earthworks consist of a ditched boundary appearing to define a trackway, up to 8m wide, with possible conjoined enclosures to the north. This routeway has two tracks leading to it from the north and it is likely to have been utilised for the movement and management of stock. To the south of the trackway is a small rectangular enclosure, 22m by 10m. The earthworks cannot be clearly seen on the latest available photography of the site (1988, S4), although it is possible that the eastern part of the site still survives as low earthwork features. The majority of these features are certainly extant in 1982 (S3). Some, if not all, of the western components of the site are likely to have been levelled.
