Summary

A possible area of fragmentary ditched cropmarks may be visible on aerial photographs to the west of Stoke Road, Tottenhill. It is possible that these cropmarks represent the remains of the former field boundaries of unknown date. Although some, if not all, of the cropmarks are of uncertain archaeological origin and it is possible that they relate to agricultural activities and/or underlying drainage features.

Map

March 2008. Norfolk NMP.
A possible area of fragmentary ditched cropmarks may be visible on aerial photographs to the west of Stoke Road, Tottenhill (S1-S2). It is possible that these cropmarks represent the remains of the former field boundaries of unknown date. Other similarly aligned ditches recorded from aerial photographs in the vicinity of this site have been interpreted as being of late prehistoric to Roman in date (NHER 50955, 50957 for example). However it is felt some, if not all, of the cropmarks recorded under this number are of uncertain archaeological origin and it is possible that they relate to agricultural activities and/or underlying drainage features.
