Summary

The cropmarks of undated fragmentary field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs to the south of the Watlington Road. A late prehistoric to Roman date could be suggested for these cropmarks, although the site is too fragmentary to offer any more detailed interpretation. Similar features have been mapped to northwest (NHER 50941).These cropmarks are located approximately 750m to the southeast of the late Iron Age to Roman settlement at 60 Acre Field and Police House Field, Watlington (NHER 39457-8).

Map

March 2008. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of undated fragmentary field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs to the south of the Watlington Road (S1). A late prehistoric to Roman date could be suggested for these cropmarks, although the site is too fragmentary to offer any more detailed interpretation. Similar features have been mapped to northwest (NHER 50941). These cropmarks are located approximately 750m to the southeast of the late Iron Age to Roman settlement at 60 Acre Field and Police House Field, Watlington (NHER 39457-8). These fragmentary ditches would have the appearance of being former field boundaries, although given their location near to the former channel running through Watlington from the northwest, it is possible that some of them relate to drainage.
