Summary

The site of a World War Two searchlight or gun emplacement is visible on aerial photographs to the east of Watlington Church. This site is located approximately 200m from a searchlight battery (NHER 35923) located to the south of School Road. This structure will have formed an outlier component of the main site.

The site of a World War Two searchlight or gun emplacement is visible on aerial photographs to the east of Watlington Church (S1). This site is located approximately 200m from a searchlight battery (NHER 35923) located to the south of School Road. This structure will have formed an outlier component of the main site.

The site consists of a circular embankment, with a circular platform or compacted surface in the centre, on top of which is likely to have stood a gun or light emplacement. Two rectangular huts are located at the roadside entrance to the site.
