March 2008. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks on land adjacent to River Wensum.
A 5m wide section of the river bank was cut through and temporarily removed at this location. The 1940s ground level was reached and several undiagnostic pieces of metal and two heavily corroded metal discs were recovered. These were revealed to be an early post-medieval copper alloy button and a fragment of folded lead sheet. No other finds were recovered.
