Summary

An L-shaped ridge of natural flints identified during an earthwork survey of Oak Wood in 2007. These remains are likely the remnants of a military building associated with the World War Two defenses installed in Oak Wood (NHER 38264).

Oak Wood Site 13:
An L-shaped ridge of natural flints was identified during a rapid earthwork survey of Oak Wood, Cracking Hill and Sheringham Wood. The ridge measures 1.5m wide and up to 0.2m high. The north-south edge continues for a distance of 8m, while the other continues for 2m to the east. They are likely the remnants of a military building associated with the World War Two defenses in Oak Wood (NHER 38264). A small mound of natural flint was also noted 10m to the west of these remains.
