Full Description
Photograph from NCM files, now in (S1), of a leaf-shaped sword with median rib, but flared at junction with integral circular hoop with ribs instead of a handle. No scale on photo. Blade is notched by use but it is very difficult to judge how the weapon could have been held.
On back of photo in the writing of R R Clarke and thus before 1963 is '?17th century Kings Lynn Fortifications Penes I J Thatcher' (a noted collector of the early 20th century).
No other record found of this object.
S. Ashley (NLA) suggests this is ethnographic.
E. Rose (NLA), 26 September 2006.
