Map

April 2008.
Two rectangular ponds and one oval pond are shown on the Wood Norton tithe map (S1). The rectangular ponds (and possibly the oval pond) may be medieval or post medieval fishponds, possibly associated with a possible moat to the northeast (HER 51521).
Only the westernmost rectangular pond and the oval pond are shown on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S2), suggesting that by the 1880s the easternmost rectangular pond had been deliberately infilled or had silted up.
The current Ordnance Survey map (S3) shows only the westernmost rectangular pond and the oval pond.
The two rectangular ponds are shown on the Wood Norton Enclosure Map (S4). The staggered boundary to the north of the two rectangular ponds appears to mark the northern boundary of the oval pond, although the oval pond is not shown. The depiction of the staggered boundary could suggest the oval pond existed when the Enclosure Map was surveyed, but that it was dry.

The earthworks of possible medieval to post medieval fishponds (see above) are visible on visualised lidar data from as survey flown in 2022 (S5). As the survey was flown relatively recently, it is likely that the features still survive as earthworks.
