Map

May 2008. Norfolk NMP.
A group of fragmentary field boundaries of unknown definite date are visible on aerial photographs at Hopton-on-Sea (S1-S3). The area of this site is covered by several phases of cropmarks, the majority of which are undated and recorded under NHER 50980. Cropmarks relating to possible late prehistoric to Roman date fragmentary fields and enclosures tentatively recorded across this area are under NHER 50981.

This site consists of an extremely fragmentary group of cropmarks, the ditches of which all broadly follow a N-S or E-W alignment. A possible sub-rectangular enclosure, approximately 20m across is located to the north of the site (S3). A group of boundary ditches visible on aerial photographs to the north (NHER 50978) follow the same alignment and may represent broadly contemporary features. Unfortunately these cropmarks of are unknown date also.
