Full Description
July-August 2008. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with installation of Anglian Water pipeline.
No archaeological finds or features were encountered.

The associated archive has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2016.168).

Early September 2008. Field Observation.
Examination of stripped pipeline easement by [1]. Finds recovered from probable feature at [2]. Site subsequently visited by A. Rogerson (NLA) and [1]. Partial excavation of upper fill of linear feature, shown to be approximately 2m wide and aligned west-south-west to east-north-east (similar to several linear cropmarks currently visible on Google Earth). Finds recovered comprised:
43 Iron Age pottery sherds (sandy or finely gritted, predominantly reduced, some with oxidised exterior).
1 Roman pottery sherd (greyware).

Autumn 2008. Stray Find.
Further finds collected by [1] from disturbed fill of previously identified linear feature:
26 Iron Age pottery sherds (plus 9 scraps).
1 Roman pottery sherd (greyware).
Undatable animal bone fragments.
