Full Description
The foundations of Queen Alexandra's bungalow were exposed here during shingle removal. The foundations are approximately 1 metre high. The building was of carstone with a external stack at one end and and entrance formed of a boat set on its end. It was constructed in 1908AD and bore the inscription NISI DOMINUS A R I MCMVIII (Except the Lord (build the house the builders labour in vain) Alexandra Regina Imperatrice 1908). The bungalow was demolised to its foundations in 1925 and the materials were used to build Shernborne village hall (see (S1) in file).
