Full Description
Before 1970. Stray Find.
Found on surface:
1 prehistoric flint axe fragment. See sketch (S1).
Identified by J. J. Wymer (NAU) as a Mesolithic axe, although apparently R. Jacobi said not. Information from (S2). This object is now held by NCM (NWHCM : 1972.327 : A), where it is recorded as the cutting edge of a Mesolithic tranchet axe. This is probably the tranchet axe listed in (S3) as found at Two Mile Bottom and in the NCM.
Amended by P. Watkins (HES) 1 July 2013.
