Coppiced woodland with many bluebells. Current GIS mapping and S1 shows various area of water, but these are all in the bed of one large semicircular pit and one small pit to the west on the edge of the field - the former is extremely deep and steep-sided with remains of causeways. However, despite the ancient appearance of the coppicing, S2 shows only a blank field. These are probably gravel pits (geology is Plateau Gravels) and if S2 is correct they must date from between 1840 and 1880.
