Full Description
Memorial to the lifeboat disater of 1880, when 11 lifeboatmen died in an attept to reach the Ocean Queen of Sunderland, having previously rescued the crew of the Sharon's Rose of Whitby. A stepped base supports a broken column with an anchor. It is surrounded by railings. (S1) in file has a photo and details of proposed resiting in 1996 though this does not appear to have been done by 2007 to judge by the current mapping.
