Full Description
5 July 2007. Field Survey.
Tree marking the parish boundary where the Tittleshall-Wellingham road kinks across the line of the Roman road. Stated to bear a graffitie T B with a picture of an axe, and believed locally to mark the scene of a murder. However, given that it is adjacent to Tittleshall Common it is equally possible that T B stands for 'Tittleshall Bounds' and the axe indicates that people were allowed to cut faggots there. This oak tree remains in 2007 but is so mantled in ivy that any incision in invisible.
