The ditch was the only feature identified during trial trenching in 2008. A watching brief maintained during subsequent groundworks in 2009/2010 recorded no additional archaeologically-significant features and no finds were recovered.

Map

September-November 2008. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection cable (Trench 57b).
The single trench at this location revealed a north-to-south aligned ditch of probable post-medieval date. This feature was not excavated, its date being suggested by fragments of post-medieval tile recovered from its exposed surface.
A subsoil layer present in this field was seen as evidence for medieval open-field agriculture.
See reports (S1) and (S2) for further details. This work is also noted in (S3).
