Map

October 2008. Norfolk NMP.
Traces of agricultural ridge and furrow of medieval to post medieval date, and a ring ditch with internal pit, of possible post medieval date, were visible on aerial photographs (S1) and (S2), centred at TG 2538 1222.

The possible ridge and furrow is characterised by a series of parallel ditches running roughly east-west, fragmentary in their survival and averaging approximately 15 m in length. It is clear that these ditch features appear to pre-date a track which runs through the centre of the field, visible on both the 1st (S3) and 2nd (S4) edition Ordnance Survey maps of the area.

The ring ditch appears to post-date the ridge and furrow, and has therefore also been assigned a medieval to post medieval date. It is centred at TG 2539 1224 measures 6m in diameter, and appears to have a break on its eastern side, and an internal pit (approximately 2m in diameter). It is possible that this feature represents a stack stand.
