Map

October 2008. Norfolk NMP.
Possible linear features, centred at TG 2675 1397, visible as cropmarks on one set of aerial photographs only (S1), were recorded with caution as part of the National Mapping Programme. Their date is unknown, and they are fragmentary in nature, but it is possible that they represent drainage features, as they run down a slight slope towards a wet area, known as ‘Waterlow’ and ‘The Springs’.
E. Bales (NMP), 29 October 2008.

November 2009. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed line of Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Site C1).
Although several trenches were placed to investigate these cropmarks, there appeared to be no corresponding sub-surface features. A number of similarly aligned plough marks were however noted and it was suggested that these may have been the linear features visible as cropmarks.
See report (S2) and NHER 49748 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 30 July 2015.

May 2014-January 2015. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey on proposed line of the Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Area C1).
This survey revealed no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains associated with these cropmarks.
See report (S3) and NHER 49748 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 23 February 2021.

January-September 2016. Strip Map and Sample Excavation.
Excavation of site on route of Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Area 10).
Although the area investigated coincided with several of the cropmarks no corresponding sub-surface features were identified, confirming the negative results of the preceding work.
See NHER 49748 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 6 April 2021.
