Full Description
October 2008. Norfolk NMP.
Linear nd curvilinear ditches of possible late prehistoric date were visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 2615 1189.
The features appear to consist of a pair of parallel ditches, approximately 6m apart running roughly northwest-southeast, which are partially overlain by a pair of curving east-west linear ditches, approximately 12m apart. Two shorter lengths of east-west ditch are visible either side of the southernmost ditch.
These features may be related to the curving ditch features recorded as NHER 50998, centred approximately 200m to the north-west, as these features are similar in character, and as such have been tentatively assigned a late prehistoric date, although it may be worth noting that Early-Middle Saxon and medieval finds were recovered nearby (NHER 25895). They are also similar in nature to the ditches of a possible Iron Age to Roman field system NHER 50744) situated approximately 1.7km to the northeast.
