Full Description
September 1967. Scheduled.
This area of alloments has been scheduled as part of the Saxon Town at Thetford as it is immediately adjacent to the line of the town ditch (NHER 5886). Directly south of this area several Late Saxon burials were excavated at Williamson Crescent in 1948 (NHER 20982) and additional burials were recorded in 2006 (NHER 41990). To the east, an area of Saxon occupation and industrial workshops was excavated in the early 1950's (NHER 5847).

1979. Metal Detecting.
A medieval brooch was found while metal detecting on this allotment.
It has been identified as a bronze circular brooch with pin, half plain, half decorated with barley sugar twist. Probably 12th - 13th century.
Held by Thetford Museum.
Formerly said to have been found on site NHER 15906, corrected by [1] on 30 June 1987.
