Summary

A post medieval field system, partly depicted on 19th century maps, is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. It overlies other cropmarks, relating to the Roman town of Brampton (NHER 66780), and in places it is difficult to distinguish between the two phases.

There is too little information provided about the cropmarks described above to be certain which cropmarks – within a very dense area of visible features – are being referred to. This record is now used for the cropmarks of a post medieval field system; other cropmarks in this field and surrounding area, most of which probably relate to Brampton Roman town, are recorded as part of NHER 66780.
A post medieval field system, partly depicted on 19th century maps such as Buxton Tithe map (S1), is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S2-S5). It overlies other cropmarks, relating to the Roman town of Brampton (NHER 66780), and in places it is difficult to distinguish between the two phases.
