Full Description
November 2008. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated banks and a possible enclosure ditch feature were visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3), centred at TG 2979 1006. The possible enclosure ditch was an irregular curvilinear shape in plan, and measuring 68m by at least 88m, and appears to extend on the same alignment as a post medieval farmstead visible to the north on the Little Plumstead Tithe map of 1839.
The bank features were harder to characterise, only being visible on one set of photographs (S2), and faint and blurred in nature. They do, however, appear to respect the position of the possible enclosure ditch, and may be contemporary with it. It is possible that these features are contemporary with a similar enclosure to the north (NHER 51943), which was attributed a medieval to post medieval date.
E. Bales (NMP), 27 November 2008.
