May 2009. Building Survey.
Survey of stables ahead of proposed development.
The building comprises three sections; the central section has a hipped roof and is higher than the two extensions at either side. The building is constructed of carstone facing over a chalk core with brick detailing. The south façade has a central round-arched doorway with Diocletian windows to each side. There is a stone sundial in the upper walling above the door which is almost illegible due to weathering. The north elevation has two courses of brick as a cornice. This wall contains two large 20th-century windows. The interior of the main building is now one large room, altered in the 20th century. The extentions to the east and the west both haves one Diocletian window in their south elevations, and the bricks appear to be of a later date than those in the main building. The bricks in the main building have thin and irregular horizontal skintlings which indicates a 1770s- 1780s date.
