Full Description
April 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The site of a World War Two barrage balloon is visible on aerial photographs taken in June 1942 (S1) centred at TG 2544 0745. The site at this time comprises a balloon with its tethering block, and at least three small (3m diameter) circular tents visible in a wooded area to the south centred at TG 2544 0743, as well as a larger (6.6m x 2.9m), oval tent centred at TG 2547 0744. A possible structure was identified at TG 2547 0743, although this may represent a vehicle, but the nature of the 1942 photographs make it difficult to be sure. The site at this time has been mapped as an extent of area.
E. Bales (NMP), 23 April 2009.
