Summary

Three banks are visible as negative cropmarks on aerial photographs on land to the east of Tower Cottages and the ruined St Andrew’s Church, Whitlingham (NHER 9692). These features probably represent post medieval agricultural building footprints but may indicate the presence of some form of enclosure on the site of an unknown date.

Map

April 2009. Norfolk NMP.
Three banks are visible as negative cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 2754 0796, on land to the east of Tower Cottages and the ruined St Andrew’s Church, Whitlingham (NHER 9692).
The banks form a fragmentary C-shape, open at the east end, which measures internally circa 55m by 37m. This series of irregular banks, upcast spoil or masonry/foundations, probably represent post medieval agricultural building footprints similar to sites such as (NHER 50984) but may indicate the presence of some form of enclosure on the site of an unknown date.
E. Bales (NMP), 7 April 2009.
