Summary

Metal-detecting between 2009 and 2022 recovered Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton and a number of other metal objects, including a Roman brooch and belt slide; an Early Saxon brooch fragment; a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount and copper alloy ingot; a medieval strap end; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy cauldron fragment and a post-medieval harness mount, belt or harness mount and silver cuff link element. A Lower Palaeolithic flint handaxe was found by chance at this location in 2017.

Lower Palaeolithic flint handaxe of Wymer's type G. A very large example struck from a tertiary flake. The dorsal face has seen substantially more flake removals than the ventral, the latter already possessing a suitable convex shape.
