Level 2 photographic survey of HMPS Norwich Prison A Wing.
A wing is a 'telegraph pole plan' prison, and was built 1885-90. It is orientated on an approximate east- west axis, and is a four storey building of 22 bays. The building is constructed of red brick in an English bond . Window and door openings are characterised by segmental arch brick heads and stone sills. Two- man cells of the block represent the original layout of the inamte accomodation. Four and six- man cells have been inserted at a later date.
