Full Description
September 2005. Listed, Grade II.
Listing Description Excerpt:
"Gate, gate piers, boundary wall and railings to Eaton Hall (NHER 47931). Early 19th-century. Six piers and wall are yellow brick with stone capping. Railings and double-gates of wrought iron. All piers are square in plan. Gate panels of fine scroll-work; railings are spear-headed. Road-side piers have wrought-iron beacons above."

The hall is believed to have been constructed for Alderman Davey. It was used as Judge's lodgings in the late 19th century.

Wrought iron gates probably commisssioned in the 18th century and inspired by the work of Robert Bakewell, a pupil of Tijou, a Heugenot, credited with introducing the renaissance of English iron work. Exceptional craftsmanship with single and double water leaves and repousse leaf and flower motifs. See (S2)
