Summary

Several linear ditch features are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs, the longer two representing possible overlapping field boundaries of medieval to post medieval date, the rest representing fragments of possible linear trackways of late prehistoric date, although these features are considerable less clear, and may in fact be geological, rather than archaeological in origin.

Map

October 2009. Norfolk NMP.
Several linear ditch features are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 1581 1936. The longest two features are two overlapping linear ditches, the north-south one measuring 119m and the east west one160m in length. The ditches cross at TG 1592 1927. The north south ditch runs parallel to a field boundary visible on the Tithe Map and Ordnance Survey 1st edition, and these ditches may therefore date to the medieval to post medieval period.
Fragments of possible double-ditched trackway are also visible in the form of short fragments of parallel ditches, approximately 3m apart on a northwest-southeast alignment. They echo the alignment of a faint linear ditch approximately 340m to the northeast (NHER 52340), and as such may date to the late prehistoric period, although it is difficult to be certain whether these marks are truly archaeological in nature, as they are visible in an area where there are a great number geological marks, and it is possible that they in fact represent underlying geology and soils rather than archaeological features.
