Full Description
October 2009. Norfolk NMP.
A cropmark of a possible curvilinear ditch feature is visible on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 1563 1887. The feature appears to be semi-circular, with an internal diameter of approximately 33m, and an irregular ditch, which has a width of 3m at its widest point.
It is difficult to be certain that this feature is archaeological, as there are a great number of geological features showing as cropmarks in this area, and as the feature is only visible on one photographic frame it has been mapped with a note of caution.
If it is archaeological, it is possible that it represents an oval enclosure or ring ditch, and may date to the late prehistoric period. It is also possible that it simply represents the edge of a pit or tree-line, and has therefore been recorded with caution.
E. Bales (NMP), October 2009.
