Full Description
November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
A linear ditch feature, probably a medieval to post medieval field boundary, is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2) to the north east of Green Lane Farm, Horsford.
It runs northwest-southeast from TG 1920 1779 to TG 1939 1773, with a slight break, due to masking of the archaeology, at TG 1931 1775.
Although this feature is not depicted directly on the Tithe Map of 1841 (S3) it is on the same alignment as, and appears to be a continuation of, a linear ditch to the south east which is shown on the Tithe Map, which has survived as the edge of a modern plantation. It has therefore been dated to the medieval or post medieval period.
E. Bales (NMP), November 2009.
