NHER 53205 (Cropmark and Earthwork) - Site of medieval to post medieval field boundary ditches and possible trackways

A system of field boundary ditches and trackways are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S4), on land to the southeast of Mill Lane Farm, Horsford, centred on TG 1981 1673.
The majority of features on an east northeast-west southwest alignment appear to correspond with field boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map of 1841 (S5), or drainage features shown on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey Map (S6).
A possible trackway, which runs south-north from TG 1982 1670 to TG 1978 1694, before turning a corner and continuing to the west as far as TG 1972 1694, appears to intersect the features described above. However, its southern end corresponds with a boundary depicted on the Tithe Map, as does the northern part of a similar feature, probably part of the same trackway, 516m to the south, recorded as NHER 53207.
A faint fragmentary linear ditch on a north northeast-south southwest alignment, running for over 600m from TG 1965 1696 to TG1953 1634 may in fact represent earlier activity on the site. It is not quite on the same alignment, but may be similar enough to the ditch features 2.3km to the northwest, NHER 52364 and 52365, to suggest that it represents Roman period activity.
