Summary

An undated possible trackway is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs on land to the north of Home Farm, Horsford, running northeast-southwest. The trackway is almost parallel to a field boundary depicted on the Tithe Map of 1841. It is therefore possible that this trackway, and a possible enclosure (NHER 36415) recorded just over 50m to the west, which is parallel to this feature, date to the medieval to post medieval period. However, these features are also aligned in a similar way to the possible Iron Age to Roman enclosures (NHER 18126, 53239) to the southwest and northwest, and it is therefore possible that they are Iron Age to Roman in date.

Full Description

November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
An undated possible trackway is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S4), on land to the north of Home Farm, Horsford, running northeast-southwest from TG 2002 1517 to TG 1995 1498.
The trackway measures approximately 205m in length, consisting of two parallel ditches 6m apart, running almost parallel to a field boundary depicted on the Tithe Map of 1841 (S5). It is therefore possible that this trackway, and a possible enclosure (NHER 36415) recorded just over 50m to the west, which is parallel to this feature, date to the medieval to post medieval period. However, these features are also aligned in a similar way to the possible Iron Age to Roman enclosures (NHER 18126, 53239) to the southwest and northwest, and it is therefore possible that they are Iron Age to Roman in date.
