Summary

Several fragmentary linear ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs, on land to the west of Horsford Castle. It is possible that they form part of the possible Iron Age-Roman or medieval to post medieval field system represented by the cropmarks 300m to the south (NHER 53241), but it is also possible that they relate to modern drainage ditches, as there are a number visible in this area, particularly in the field to the north.

Map

November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
Several fragmentary linear ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1), centred on TG 1999 1556, on land to the west of Horsford Castle.
They are only visible on one photographic frame, with no stereo pair, and have therefore been recorded with caution. It is possible that they form part of the possible Iron Age-Roman or medieval to post medieval field system represented by the cropmarks 300m to the south (NHER 53241), but it is also possible that they relate to modern drainage ditches, as there are a number visible in this area, particularly in the field to the north (S2).
